Initial outcome

These are my initial prints. I was unhappy with how the linocut turned out because i cut ON the lines rather than around them. However, looking back, i think it looks okay when compared to the later versions.

I printed A LOT because i wanted some backups in case the future prints didn't look good.

Black ink on white paper
(More later)

Weird effect, maybe too little pressure?

I think the lino was still a bit wet so maybe thats what made this fuzzy effect

also, there are random spots without ink. this may be because of lino pieces i forgot to take off the lino before printing.

Grainy result, not enouth pressure applied

Also, the lino pieces messing up again.

However, i think it would look quite cool as a streetlamp effect for a future project. (lino piece makes the ink fade in as it gets further)

Red/pink ink on paper

WAY over inked. Also, the lino skid a bit (right side has two edges)

Black paper, white ink (water based) experiment

Results are really wet (looking) and fuzzy. I think this may be because the dots/spots really stand out from the white when being printed.

Best white on black print. However it is over inked in many spots.

Same idea as above. However, insead of black paper, it is white paper with black ink and then white is layered on.

Since the black was not done perfect, there were already the blank dots before the white. The result is Really not great.

Along with that, the white print was over-inked.

Pink/Red Ink

This is a pretty good print (compared to the others).

However, the edges were not covered, and the top and right sides had more pressure than the rest.

Roller marks

inconsistent ink application as well as inconsistent pressure

Center way under inked

Roller marks everywhere

bottom not even inked

no border

The middle-ish area is the best, and as it nears the edges the print gets more and more under inked and inconsistent.

Same as the print above, but to a lesser extent (better than the one above but still has the same issues to a lesser extent)

This has the "2020" and olympic logo because it was one of the final pieces i chose for the initial submission deadline

(i printed the olympics logo on many of them, and chose the best as my final)

Printed on newsprint

Better than the print above, but no border again.

Overall pretty ok, but it is printed on newsprint, and that is not good for a final

Under-inked, no border

Another one that could be the final. In the end, i didnt use it because the black was difficult to use with other colors (green and other darker shades dont work well)

Planned Etching

20210315_092104.jpg

Etching was supposed to play a large role in my final piece. However, i did not use it in the end. This is because of multiple reasons.

1) I cut too hard with the knife and cut a line through the plate

2) When cutting, i accidentally shifted it by around 5 degrees. This made half of the stuff i did so far not aligh and i became super discouraged. In the end, i did not continue cutting, as it was not alighned prolerly anyway.
