Soft Etching Sheet

NOTE: I couldn't get photos of the etching sheets because they are transparent and didn't turn out well on my camera. However, the drawings and scratching tests are on the prints anyway.

Still too under-cleaned. However it is a massive improvement when compared to my first 3 prints.

Main problem is the smudging when cleaning (ink from dark areas smudged over the areas that are supposed to be clear)

Cleaned with Scrim

The ink is a pink color, so i needed to brighten the image to see the print

cleaning much better than the last one, but i think some areas are over-cleaned and cannot be seen anymore.

White ink on black background (black color paper).

Not cleaned enough and smudges are back.

Cleaned with Scrim

Smudging is better but still present.

Also, the shapes cut out on the etching sheet are not defined well, and is hard to see. (also cleaned a bit too much in some regions)

MASKING

Two masked prints printed on the same newsprint.

I was trying to make the piece have two different colors by printing twice in each color. However, the positioning still needs work, as there is a gap like when i tried do this in the soft lino unit

Also, both prints have a great amount of smudging and both under and over cleaning issues.

Cleaned with scrim

Bottom right and middle cleaned too mcuh and the other three corners are under-cleaned. Also loads of smudging.

Cleaned with pallette knife (pushing ink off)

(Paper, not newspirnt)

Loads of ink stains/trails because it is basically not cleaned

NOTE: this is another sheet so the scratchings are different

Same problem as print above. However there is a great amount of improvement.

I quite like the cleaning effect this way (strong directional lines coming off the lines). I think i have seen work done with these effects and it looked quite cool. (but they knew what they were doing haha)

Honestly, i dont know if this is also a non-cleaned piece, as my organization is terrible. However, it is in this catagory in my book and i can see some directional lines so im guessing it is...

If this is a non-cleaned piece:

It is a large improvement when compared to the prints before. Sure, there is some smudging and some areas where the ink is over/under cleaned, but this wasn't cleaned so i was really suprised to get a result this good.

Light/shadow effect

20210308_093506.jpg

Cleaned with tissue, over cleaned. (WAY)

BUT I actually really like the effect (it looks like there is a bright light on the upper left corner)

If i were to ty and replicate this affect, i would clean less when further from the corner, as it would magnify the effect and make it look cooler.

aha i just realised there was one where i actually tried to make the effect again

This time it is better in some ways and wors in others. This is because now, the trails are left from some areas that shouldnt leave trails, ruining the effect.

Rather than a light effect, it just looks badly cleaned :< sad
