Pep, imPerfection Film
Film by Caitlyn Loy I am practicioning for.
Week 2-3 work
3D Modelling (ROUGH PLACEMENT TEST)
Quick turnaround roughing in the background for the main set. This allows for quick snapshots to be used for rough and consistent background placement before texturing and detailing in 2d layout. made based on the 2d layout drawn by Caitlyn

Initial 4 designs for the rest of the team to choose for an aesthetic. I can then develop further. The reference provided had variations and so I wanted to know which direction to continue in before trying alternative designs.

Week 4 update
I added handles and finished modelling the scene, as well as changing the position of the oven as some of the other things in the scene

Thumbnails

some closeups of detail work i did for the set

thumbnails for the ending part of their film. Caitlyn needed some ideas for potentially what the final part of the film would look like, so I helped out by making a thumbnail list of how I would animate the scene.
week 5

using 3d renders to rough in camera angles in the animatic. these can be traced over or referenced for the final animation. After exporting an intitial version, i had a meeting with Caitlyn(boss) to fix certain camera angles and discuss scenes where I felt the angle was ambiguous and required clarification.
Project
Concept sketches based on a dream i had. I'm mainly working on concept art, character design and preproduction work. fleshing out the world for a possible fourth year production.

This is a project based on a dream i had, the dream was very developed visually, and i want to portray this world in a visual format. (This is actually a combination of 2 dreams).

As an international student, it's interesting to see how my mind interpereted the architecture of places I've been and lived. I noticed a lot of places were near replicas of hong kong architectural basics, with twists from places I've seen in vancouver and other countries.
For example, the train design was a mix of vancouver and japan, the vuildings were designed mainly with hong kong aesthetic but more grunge and density like what i see in macau but with names from vancouver like "marine drive" or "waterfront".
It's interesting to see as the design in vancouver is also getting more similar to that in hong kong, especially with the new capsan station's design aesthetics reminding me of home.
